Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients across a newborn-to-geriatric population in an emergency department setting
  • Participate in patient and family teaching to support informed care and mutual goal setting
  • Work cooperatively with ancillary nursing and interdisciplinary patient care team members to maintain professional nursing standards
  • Ensure patient rights and privacy are protected in accordance with applicable ethical and professional standards
  • Adhere to standards set by regulatory agencies including AOA, HCFA Conditions of Participation, and MIOSHA
  • Maintain individual competence and accountability in nursing practice, actions, and clinical judgments

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience required
  • Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required; Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) accepted in lieu of PALS

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience working with a patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric in a fast-paced emergency setting
  • Familiarity with Paragon Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
  • Experience maintaining a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in an emergency department environment
