Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a KY or compact license and 2+ years of ED experience.

Details

  • Work in a General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
  • 13-week assignment with night shifts (3x12 and 4x12 rotating, 19:00-7:30)
  • Rotating schedule totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period (one week of 3x12, next week of 4x12)
  • 1:4 patient ratio
  • Float required within scope of practice
  • Every other weekend required
  • Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

  • Active KY or compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of current ED experience required
  • 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI (or Avade)
  • Skilled in psychiatric care including acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
  • Skilled in pediatric care including asthma, mental/behavioral health conditions, and respiratory infections
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, and intubation
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Skilled in orthopedic care including splint application and ortho trauma management
  • Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including starting and maintaining IVs
  • Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
  • Two professional references required, including one Charge nurse or higher and one supervisor reference, both completed within the last year
  • Driver's license required, with address matching permanent address

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency department nursing care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
  • Up to 7 days of RTO will be considered and must be presented upfront with no changes accepted
  • Required to work either a major or minor shift on every holiday
  • Travel pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
  • After completing one year of assignment extensions, a minimum 6-month break from the system is required before returning
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
