Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse is needed at a healthcare facility located in Garden City, Kansas. This position involves providing nursing care in an emergency department environment, focusing on patient treatment for various acute conditions. The role requires flexibility to float within the designated region and adheres to the facility's operational standards.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 11.5 hours per shift
- Schedule: 11.5-hour shifts with a minimum of 34.5 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/03/2026
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS, American Heart Association), Basic Life Support (BLS, American Heart Association), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); two years of prior ER experience
- Experience or Must Have Skills: Must have at least 2 years of ER nursing experience; familiarity with common ER medications and protocols; ability to float within Zone 4, which includes multiple ER units within a 60-mile radius of Garden City, Kansas
- Additional Information:
- This position involves floating within the designated region's emergency departments based on operational needs.
- Orientation lasts 2-3 days and occurs after arrival in the state.
- The unit handles a variety of patients, including those with abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5, depending on acuity.
- The ER is equipped with ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow oxygen, and other advanced respiratory equipment.
- RNs are expected to interpret telemetry strips and perform point-of-care lab testing, including phlebotomy.
- The dress code is navy blue, and the team uses EPIC as the charting system.
