Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in acute and critical situations. The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, engaging in a wide range of nursing activities to deliver timely and effective patient care.

Shift Requirements

• Flexibility to work between 0500 - 1730 and 0700 - 1930 based on department discretion and staffing needs
• Floating between multiple emergency departments within the region may be required
• Availability to work every fourth weekend

Position Expectations

• Participate in the interviews of candidates and engage with team members to ensure quality patient care
• Work efficiently in a unit with a total bed capacity of 34
• Maintain a patient care ratio of 4:1
• Administer drips and perform titrations as necessary
• Follow established protocols and participate in continuing education to ensure compliance with best practices

Qualifications

• Minimum of 24 months of current Emergency Room experience is required
• Completion of a travel contract within the past 18 months is necessary
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system is required
• Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (the latter can be obtained during onboarding)
• Preferred: De-escalation training certificates such as CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA

Documentation Requirements

• Current Nursing license must be verified (Iowa or compact/multistate)
• Complete and detailed work history and skills checklist specific to Emergency Room nursing
• Professional references from direct supervisors or nursing management from within the last 24 months
• A current driver’s license must be provided
