Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York or eligibility for state licensure
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience
• Current professional resume and completion of required competency documentation
• Ability to provide safe, efficient patient care in a high-acuity emergency setting
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills

Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients presenting with urgent and emergent conditions
• Perform focused patient assessments, support triage, complete ongoing reassessments, and promptly escalate changes in condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Manage care for multiple emergency department patients while maintaining an approximate 1:5 patient ratio
• Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and discharge instructions accurately
• Support patient stabilization, education, transfers, and safe discharge planning
