Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) Location: This role involves providing critical nursing care in the emergency department of a healthcare provider. The ER RN is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing patient health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through accurate diagnosis and treatment of human responses. The position requires adherence to all standards of practice, professional development, and ethical guidelines, fostering a caring, healing environment for patient-centered care.
Job Details
Responsibilities: Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients. Act as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit assignment, considering safety and effectiveness. Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management. Safely administer medications in accordance with hospital policy. Contribute to effective resource utilization, including staffing, supplies, and services. Support the Nursing Shared Governance Model by participating in unit councils, improvement initiatives, and peer reviews. Engage in professional development, continuing education, and mandatory training requirements. Incorporate nursing research and current evidence into practice. Provide a supportive environment for new staff and students. Perform duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles if assigned. May assume additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited school; current New York State Registered Nurse license; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications; 2+ years of Emergency Department experience; schedule details include nights, 12-hour shifts, and 36 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing; professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
Schedule: Night shifts; 12 hours per shift; minimum of 36 hours per week.
Additional Information: The RN will utilize a working knowledge of pharmacology to safely administer medications and ensure compliance with all practice standards and policies. The role involves active participation in unit improvement initiatives, peer review, and ensuring quality patient care through a multidisciplinary team approach.
