Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Endoscopy unit position requiring 2+ years of GI/Endoscopy experience and a GA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high-volume Endoscopy unit averaging 45-65 cases daily across 8 procedure rooms
  • Care for both inpatient and outpatient populations undergoing GI and pulmonary procedures
  • Unit performs a range of cases including basic EGDs and colonoscopies as well as complex interventional GI procedures such as ERCP, EUS, POEM, and cystgastrostomy
  • Respiratory therapists are unit-based to assist with bronchoscopies, and GI techs support the full range of procedures
  • All cases are supported by an in-house anesthesia group
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirements
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy/GI nursing experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with specimen handling and labeling
  • Experience circulating and assisting with bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, and EGD procedures
  • Experience with pre/post-procedure care and conscious sedation recovery
  • Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include circulating, assisting with GI/endoscopic procedures, and providing pre- and post-procedure patient care including conscious sedation monitoring and recovery
  • Candidates must be able to work within a fast-paced, high-volume endoscopy setting supported by anesthesia and respiratory therapy teams
  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and RTO must be finalized at time of submission
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period, with limited flexibility for holiday RTO requests
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Previous Piedmont employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who previously cancelled or were do-not-return at a Piedmont facility must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
  • Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
  • Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
