Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Endoscopy/GI RN with ICU/critical care and PACU recovery background to support a fast-paced hospital procedural unit requiring a NY RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Endoscopy/GI procedural unit supporting Pre-Procedure, Intra-Procedure, and PACU/Recovery care
• Evening shift schedule: 5x7.5-hour shifts, 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM
• Weekends not required
• Floating required
• Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, and adults
• Average daily census of 33 with 5 visits per day across 6 rooms and 15 beds
• Staffing ratio of 1:2
• Unit performs ERCP, EUS, ESD, POEM, EMR, complex polypectomy, EGD, colonoscopy, and bronchoscopy procedures
• Cases include general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Uses Omnicell medication system and SBAR communication
• EPIC charting experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active New York State RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ICU/critical care experience required
• PACU/Recovery experience required
• Required patient ratio experience of 1:3
• Skills required: airway management, starting and maintaining IVs, administering and monitoring conscious sedation, recovery from conscious sedation, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, emergency response, specimen handling and labeling, and circulating for procedures
• Experience with bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, and EGD required
• Pediatric experience preferred for those assigned pediatric cases
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• COVID vaccine required with no exceptions
• Copy of certifications and hard copy of license required
• Copy of official diploma required for candidates with international degrees

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care across Pre-Procedure, Intra-Procedure, and PACU/Recovery for outpatient and hospitalized patients in a high-volume GI/Endoscopy unit
• Work alongside Nurse Practitioners, CRNAs, Hospitalists, Anesthesiologists, Pharmacy, Rapid Response Teams, Interpretation Services, Transportation, and Unit Secretary support
• 22.5-hour orientation provided
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• RTO must be 5 days or less with no time off requested within the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous NYU perm staff must wait 1 year before returning as a travel employee
• EKG testing required within 72 hours of signing for certain units
• Two managerial references required (Charge RN references not accepted)
