Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a night shift acute care hospital position requiring 2 years of emergency room experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Acute care hospital with 286 staffed beds
• Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric population
• Nurse-to-patient ratios based on acuity (approximately 1:4)
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within scope to meet facility and department needs
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• 2 years of emergency room experience required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA only)
• CPI and TNCC certifications preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Triage experience preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, ABG interpretation, procedural sedation monitoring, ICP monitoring, and care of neuro-trauma and orthopedic trauma patients
• Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a range of patient acuities including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric cases
• Facility is a STEMI and Stroke Certified center
• May involve care for gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and pediatric trauma cases such as head injury or near drowning
• First-time travelers accepted if they have prior emergency room experience
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
• Candidates residing within 60 miles are considered local
• During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
