• Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,660–$1,750
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Healthcare Setting: 27-room Emergency Department with combined adult and pediatric services
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Typical Patient Volume: Approximately 76 patients per day
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required
• Uniform: Navy scrubs
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Floating: May be required within the service line and scope of practice
• Eligibility: Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible

Emergency Room RN Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan; license must be in hand before the assignment start date
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience
• Recent combined adult and pediatric Emergency Department experience required
• Experience managing an approximate patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic charting experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
• Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Knowledge of CPAP/BiPAP, ventilated patient care, and arterial blood gas interpretation
• Experience caring for patients with stroke, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, head injury, cardiac arrest, sepsis, and behavioral health needs
• Strong triage, isolation precaution, and emergency stabilization skills
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Perform rapid assessments and triage, identify changes in condition, and prioritize care according to patient acuity
• Manage a wide range of emergency presentations, including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health concerns, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, fractures, trauma, and cardiac arrest
• Initiate and manage emergency interventions, including IV therapy, blood product administration, continuous infusions, vasopressors, sedation, and procedural sedation
• Care for patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP, mechanical ventilation, central lines, and other advanced life support
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, acute neurologic conditions, traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, and other life-threatening emergencies
• Support resuscitation efforts in designated emergency treatment rooms and collaborate with emergency providers and interdisciplinary services
• Deliver care in a Primary Stroke Center environment and support trauma, forensic, and behavioral health workflows as appropriate
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and transitions of care accurately in Epic
• Follow infection prevention, isolation, medication safety, and Emergency Department protocols
• Collaborate with respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the healthcare team
• Float within the service line and scope of practice when needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
