Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift in Adrian, Michigan
Experienced ER nurses can join a fast-paced emergency department team as a Travel Registered Nurse in Adrian, Michigan. This 13-week travel nursing contract offers the opportunity to provide emergency care to a diverse patient population in a 27-bed rural emergency department serving approximately 76 patients daily.
The department is a Primary Stroke Center with dedicated resuscitation rooms, mental health care spaces, 24/7 emergency physicians, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisor coverage. Located in southeast Michigan, Adrian offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere, historic charm, outdoor recreation, and convenient access to Ann Arbor, Toledo, and Detroit. Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Michigan; license must be active and in hand before the start date
- Minimum of 3 years of emergency department nursing experience
- Recent experience in a combined adult and pediatric emergency department
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications
- Recent Epic electronic medical record (EMR) charting experience
- Demonstrated experience managing an approximately 1:4 patient ratio
- Experience managing a broad range of emergency conditions, including stroke, sepsis, respiratory emergencies, cardiac arrest, trauma, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, fractures, and abdominal pain
- Clinical experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation, ABG interpretation, ventilated patients, CPAP/BiPAP, triage, and isolation precautions
- Ability to work every other weekend and adapt to emergency department scheduling needs
- Travel nurses must reside more than 50 miles from the assignment location
Travel ER Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan
- Perform rapid nursing assessments, prioritize care, and support emergency department triage processes
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, neurological injury, and trauma
- Administer medications, blood products, IV sedation, vasopressors, and procedural sedation according to established protocols
- Initiate and maintain IV access, perform phlebotomy, manage central lines, and support ventilated patients
- Provide care for patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP and interpret ABGs and cardiac dysrhythmias
- Assist with resuscitation, trauma stabilization, neurological emergencies, orthopedic injuries, and other high-acuity emergency presentations
- Deliver age-appropriate emergency care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Epic
- Collaborate with emergency providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary care team members
- Float within the nurse’s service line and scope of practice when needed
