Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position at a Level III Trauma Center requiring 3 years of ER experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patient population
  • Level III Trauma Center and teaching hospital setting
  • 1:4 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
  • 36 hours per week with holidays required
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float required between both campus locations as needed
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • Scrub color requirement: royal blue and white

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license not accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, PALS, NIHSS (NRP and TNCC preferred)
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care/management, starting and maintaining IVs, psychiatric and drug overdose patient care, suicidal patient management, medication and emergency medication administration
  • Arterial line management experience preferred
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG skills required
  • Management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients preferred
  • No background or license actions within the past 12 months
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Must pass Advanced EKG exam as part of compliance

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Responsible for cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the main campus are not eligible
  • Former employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • System has a 2 contract limit and can only extend once, then must be gone 6 months before returning; night shift travelers may extend twice
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 4 days per assignment, subject to manager discretion
  • Holiday RTO limited to one major holiday request
  • Call-off policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week assignment before guaranteed hours are affected
  • Pre-start modules required, estimated 4-10 hours to complete
