Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring prior Level I Trauma ED experience and IL RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center hospital
  • General ED serving combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand
  • Minimum 1-2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • TNCC and CPI certifications preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in emergency care across pediatrics, respiratory, neurological, psychiatric, and trauma cases
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of emergency medications
  • Experience managing shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Skilled in triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and orthopedic splinting

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of trauma, medical, and psychiatric presentations
  • Manage a variety of trauma cases including neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV medications as needed
  • Support patients requiring ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no RTO permitted during the first or last week of the contract
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former UChicago Medicine, PRN, or Ingalls permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 7 months before returning as a traveler
