Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a rural, 27-bed ED requiring MI licensure in hand and combined adult/pediatric ED experience.

Details

  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-07:00)
  • 27-bed Emergency Department with average daily census of 76
  • Rural hospital serving as a Primary Stroke Center and pursuing Trauma IV designation
  • Patient population spans neonates through geriatrics
  • Staffing ratios of 1:4-5 all shifts
  • Dedicated SANE room with on-call forensic nurse and 2 designated resuscitation rooms
  • 4 rooms dedicated to mental health patients
  • 24/7 board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisor coverage
  • Uses Epic charting system and Pyxis medication system
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within service line/scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
  • Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (CPI preferred)
  • Experience with 1:4 patient ratios required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experienced with blood product administration and central line care/management
  • Proficient in phlebotomy and IV starts/maintenance
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
  • Skilled in CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma care
  • Experienced managing CPAP/BiPAP and interpreting ABGs
  • Experience caring for ventilated patients
  • Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds
  • Proficient in isolation precautions and triage
  • Two professional references required from within the past 24 months, with one contact submitted within 72 hours of signing

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care to patients across all age groups presenting with a wide range of acute conditions including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health crises, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, trauma, and cardiac arrest
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Floating to other units and/or facilities as needed is an expectation
  • Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval; time off around holidays is not permitted
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to be eligible
