Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a combined adult/pediatric emergency department requiring 3+ years of ED experience and an active MI RN license in hand.

Details

  • Work in a 27-bed Emergency Department at a rural hospital that is a Primary Stroke Center and pursuing Trauma IV designation
  • Treats all patient ages from neonates through geriatrics presenting with any complaint
  • Average daily census of 76 with staffing ratios of 1:4-5 all shifts
  • Common diagnoses include chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health emergencies, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, trauma, and cardiac arrest
  • Unit features 2 dedicated resuscitation rooms and 4 preferred mental health rooms with a SANE-designated room and on-call forensic nurse
  • 24/7 board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisor coverage
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system
  • Floating within service line/scope of practice as needed

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
  • Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (CPI preferred)
  • Experience with 1:4 patient ratios required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration
  • Experience managing CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, and ortho-trauma patients
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, and ventilated patients
  • Experience with gunshot wounds and isolation precautions
  • Triage experience required
  • Two professional references from within the last 24 months required, along with SSN and DOB

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across the full patient age spectrum, from neonates to geriatrics
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
  • Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval; holidays and the days before/after holidays are excluded
  • Returning staff must have been gone at least 1 year since prior permanent employment
  • Floating to other units or facilities may be expected as part of the assignment
