Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a MI license in hand and combined Adult/Peds ED experience.

Details

• 27-bed Emergency Department in a rural hospital setting with an average daily census of 76
• Primary Stroke Center pursuing Trauma IV designation
• Patient population spans neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Staffing ratio of 1:4-5 on all shifts
• Treats a wide range of chief complaints including chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health emergencies, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, trauma, and cardiac arrest
• Unit features SANE dedicated room with on-call forensic nurse, 2 resuscitation rooms, and 4 mental health preferred rooms
• 24/7 board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisor coverage
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within service line and scope of practice as needed
• Uses Pyxis medication system and Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required in hand
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• Combined Adult/Pediatric ED experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Required skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CVA and neuro-trauma care, traumatic brain injury care, ortho-trauma, CPAP/BiPAP management, ABG interpretation, care of ventilated patients, gunshot wound management, isolation precautions, and triage
• Arterial line management and spinal cord injury experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a broad range of acuities including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric emergencies
• Work within a supportive structure including 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval and cannot include holidays or the days before/after holidays
