Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a 27-bed Emergency Department position requiring combined adult/pediatric ED experience and an active MI license in hand.

Details

• 27-bed rural hospital Emergency Department with an average daily census of 76
• Primary Stroke Center seeking Trauma IV designation, with a dedicated SANE room and forensic nurse on call
• Treats all patient ages from neonates through geriatrics with a wide range of chief complaints including chest pain, stroke, sepsis, trauma, and cardiac arrest
• Two designated resuscitation rooms and four mental-health preferred rooms
• 24/7 board-certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurse, and house supervisor coverage
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:30-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within service line/scope of practice as needed
• Staffing ratio of 1:4-5 on all shifts
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required in hand
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
• Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (CPI preferred)
• Epic charting experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CVA and neuro-trauma care, traumatic brain injury care, ortho-trauma, head injury care, CPAP/BiPAP management, ABG interpretation, ventilator patient care, gunshot wound care, isolation precautions, and triage
• Two supervisor references from within the past 24 months required, with one reference contact submitted within 72 hours of signing
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care to patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of acute and traumatic conditions
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval; no holidays (eves and days after holidays) may be requested off
• Returning staff who were previously permanent employees must have been separated for at least 1 year
• Floating to other units and/or facilities may be required
