Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – South Carolina Travel Nursing Contract

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Department Profile: Approximately 56 visits per day, 12 rooms, and 11 beds
• Patient Population: Infants, neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Call and Holiday Coverage: Call is required. Candidates must cover either one holiday with two on-call shifts or additional shifts during the contract, or two holidays without on-call or additional shifts.

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

• Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience; 2 years of emergency department or emergency nursing experience is preferred.
• Current or pending Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in South Carolina; a pending license must be obtained before the start date.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Recent Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong emergency department experience with the ability to provide safe, effective care to patients across the lifespan.
• Ability to pass required cardiac dysrhythmia and medication competency assessments on the first day of orientation. Candidates receive one opportunity to pass.
• Must meet travel nurse eligibility requirements, including residing at least 75 miles from the work location.
• All requested time off must be submitted with the initial application.
• COVID-19 vaccination is required; medical and religious exemptions may be considered.

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and timely emergency care to patients ranging from neonates to older adults.
• Perform triage, focused assessments, ongoing reassessments, and prioritization of patient care.
• Recognize and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and other rapidly changing clinical conditions.
• Initiate and maintain IV access, administer medications, manage IV vasopressors, and provide blood product administration as indicated.
• Care for patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP, ventilatory support, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring.
• Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Provide emergency care for trauma and high-acuity presentations, including traumatic amputations and penetrating injuries.
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow isolation precautions and personal protective equipment standards.
• Collaborate with respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, phlebotomy, interpretation services, and other care partners.
• Support emergency department operations through dependable attendance, clear communication, and a patient-centered approach.
