Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Dept position requiring Level I Trauma experience and current IL RN licensure.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Uses Epic charting system, experience preferred
• No block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• TNCC and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required, 2 years preferred
• Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and shock/trauma management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Proficient in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, and spinal cord injuries
• Manage neurological emergencies such as CVA, traumatic brain injury, and ICP monitoring
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
• Apply and manage splints for orthopedic trauma cases
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no more than 3 days off and no RTO during the first or last week of contract
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Former UChicago Medicine or Ingalls staff must have a 7-month break in service before returning as a traveler
