Information
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide exceptional care in a fast-paced Emergency Department (ED) environment. The ED handles approximately 150-180 patients daily, with a range of services and specialties available.
Facility Overview
- Main ED with a total of 33 beds, including:
- 8 beds dedicated for Trauma/Resuscitation
- 1 pod with 4 Behavioral Health rooms (can be converted for Medical use)
- 5 pods equipped with 4 rooms and a hall bed each
- Vertical care area with a waiting room/holding area for patient care.
Patient Types
- All age groups from neonates to geriatric patients.
- Care for a variety of conditions including but not limited to:
- Sepsis
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Respiratory illnesses
- Gastrointestinal bleeds
- Heavy trauma, particularly during peak summer months (e.g., stab wounds, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle collisions, drownings, and falls)
- Stroke care up to 24 hours after symptoms onset
- Experience with Sexual Assault patients and evidence collection is required.
- Care for critically ill pediatric patients.
- Management of cardiac patients with access to a cardiac catheter lab.
Qualifications
Minimum experience required:
- 2 years of Emergency Department experience for Registered Nurses (travel experience excluded). Candidates with 1.5 years of ED experience and 2 years of experience in other settings may be considered upon manager approval.
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) preferred.
Patient Ratios
The expected patient care ratios are:
- Registered Nurse: 1:4-5
- Licensed Practical Nurse: 1:4-5
- ED Technician: 1:10
Support on the Unit
- Dedicated ED Technicians, Lead Technicians, and Charge Nurses are available around the clock.
- 24/7 physician and hospitalist coverage.
- Continuous availability of Respiratory Therapists.
- Phlebotomy services available 24/7.
Charting System and Equipment
- EPIC for electronic medical records.
- Omnicell and Alaris equipment utilized in the unit.
Orientation
The orientation process includes:
- 8 hours of Facility New Employee Orientation
- 4 hours of ED-specific education
- A minimum of (2) 12-hour shifts on the unit, with additional shifts for contracted hours.
Scheduling
Scheduling includes variable shifts with the following times:
- 0630-1900
- 1000-2230
- 1200-0030
- 1400-0200
- 1830-0700
Travelers may be scheduled to work every weekend based on staffing needs.

- Opportunity to precept students in the unit.
