Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring Epic experience and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

• Large ED serving patients ranging from low to high acuity, including stroke, STEMI, trauma, critically ill, and behavioral health patients, with acute care boarding in the ED
• Level II adult trauma center and Level III pediatric trauma center
• Primary stroke receiving center with thrombectomy capability, and STEMI receiving center
• Evening shift schedule (3x12 hours, 14:30-3:00)
• Weekend rotation required
• Floating required, including to sister facilities in the area
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at submission
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC (ENPC accepted in place of PALS)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in interpretation of ABGs, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Experience in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and ortho trauma preferred
• Experience managing critically ill patients and behavioral health de-escalation
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities, including trauma, stroke, STEMI, and behavioral health cases
• Work within a Level II Trauma Center with a combined adult/pediatric emergency department
• Scrubs of any color permitted except reddish orange
• Facility-paid parking provided
• First-time travelers considered if they have at least 2 years of experience
• Must commit to working at least 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO requests must be submitted upfront; post-submission RTO requests may not be granted
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
