• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Weekend Coverage: Every other or every third weekend
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatric patients
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:3.5
• Department Volume: Approximately 210 patients per day, with 86 rooms and 115 beds
• Clinical Systems and Equipment: EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Orientation: Department orientation provided
• Travel Experience: First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
• Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications
• Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Experience with triage, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, ventilated patients, trauma, psychiatric holds, and pediatric emergency care
• Ability to manage a diverse, high-acuity patient population in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting
• Level I Trauma Center, stroke-certified, and STEMI-certified facility experience preferred
• Two professional references required, including at least one reference from a manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Flexibility to float and support department needs as required

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, and timely emergency nursing care from triage through disposition
• Assess and prioritize patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, psychiatric, and pediatric emergencies
• Perform triage, focused assessments, reassessments, and ongoing monitoring of patient conditions
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and obtain 12-lead EKGs/ECGs
• Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and other prescribed therapies
• Care for patients requiring procedural sedation, mechanical ventilation, arterial lines, central lines, and blood product administration
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction or failure
• Initiate and maintain IV access and perform phlebotomy as clinically indicated
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory services, pharmacy, interpreters, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Accurately document care in EPIC and promote safe medication practices using Pyxis
• Support a culture of teamwork, professionalism, patient advocacy, and continuous improvement
