Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Job in Columbus, Ohio

Join a high-acuity emergency department as a Travel Registered Nurse in Columbus, Ohio. This on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide emergency care for adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced department with an approximate daily census of 210 patients. Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930

• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 3–4 patients
• Documentation System: Epic
• Weekend Requirement: Every other or every third weekend
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Additional Scheduling: Float coverage is required

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent emergency department nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse license in Ohio or an active compact RN license
• Graduation from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications
• Experience providing adult and pediatric emergency care
• Experience in a Level I trauma, stroke-certified, and STEMI-certified facility preferred
• Ability to provide two professional references, including at least one manager, director, supervisor, or other formal leader
• Comfort working night shifts, weekends, and in a high-volume emergency department

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient nursing care to a diverse emergency department patient population
• Perform patient triage, assessments, reassessments, and care prioritization
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction, trauma, stroke symptoms, and STEMI presentations
• Administer emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and other ordered therapies
• Care for ventilated patients and patients requiring continuous IV paralytics or sedation
• Perform and monitor procedural sedation and obtain 12-lead EKGs
• Start and maintain IV access, manage arterial and central lines, and administer blood products
• Support patients experiencing behavioral health emergencies and psychiatric holds
• Document accurately in Epic and collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, interpretation services, and other members of the healthcare team
• Float as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care, communication, and teamwork
