Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department requiring CA RN licensure and at least 2 years of ER experience.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in a Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Facility is a STEMI certified and Stroke certified facility
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts with alternating start times of 7am, 10am, or 12pm
  • Every other weekend required, with additional weekends possible depending on unit needs (Sunday not considered part of the weekend)
  • Floating required based on facility needs
  • Meditech charting system experience preferred but not required

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, MAB (or CPI), NIHSS, PALS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction, and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
  • Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts
  • Proficient in administering continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Experience managing CVA, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury cases
  • Skilled in chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Competent in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
  • Skilled in managing pediatric and adult conditions including abdominal pain, asthma, burns, head injury, seizures, and infections
  • Experience applying and managing splints for orthopedic trauma
  • RTO must be submitted upfront with candidate profile

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions in a high-acuity trauma setting
  • Tele and MS/Tele travelers should expect to float to DOU within their scope of practice
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
  • Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates who cancel or are canceled after accepting the assignment will be marked as Do Not Return (DNR)
  • Full commitment to the assignment is required upon acceptance
