Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule alternating between 3x12 and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:30), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
• Float required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response duties including EKG/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• On-call responsibilities not specified

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI (or Avade)
• Minimum 2 years of current ER experience required
• 3-6 months of Level IV trauma or above experience preferred
• Skills in psychiatric care including acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, and suicidal patients
• Pediatric emergency skills including asthma and mental/behavioral health conditions
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator patient care, and intubation
• Orthopedic skills including splint application and ortho trauma management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Driver's license required with address matching permanent address
• Two professional references required: one Charge or Higher and one Supervisor, both completed within the last year

Additional Information

• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; medical and religious exemptions considered on a case-by-case basis
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates not accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered and must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted after submission
• Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Travelers returning after one year of service must take a minimum 6-month break before becoming eligible to return
• Minimal traveler pairs accepted, and pairs will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• First-time travelers may be considered, though travel experience is preferred
