Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, managing a diverse range of patient needs within the emergency department.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Evenings
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

• Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Number of Beds: 56 (with potential for additional hall beds)
• Fast Track Area: Yes, with 6 beds available
• Triage Area: Yes, separate with 5 beds; travelers may take a triage test
• Holding Area: 18 designated beds for inpatient holding
• Psych/Suicidal Spaces: 6 locked private treatment rooms
• Patient Volume: Approximately 170-200 patients per day
• Nurse Ratios: 1:3 for most cases, 1:4 for low acuity

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in an emergency setting.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
• Preferred Experience: Candidates with at least 1 year in a larger trauma setting will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient care in the emergency department, including triage when assigned.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and technical staff to ensure efficient patient care.
• Utilize EMR system (Epic) for documenting patient care and accessing medical records.
• Perform clinical procedures, including drawing blood, conducting EKGs, and managing respiratory equipment.
• Participate in orientation and continuing education sessions as required.

Working Conditions

• Location: Emergency Room in a facility located in the vicinity of [City, State].
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: Availability to work holidays in November/December as needed.
• No on-call or standby requirements.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any professional colors are acceptable.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of a 1-day compliance and policy training (8-10 hours) followed by a 2nd day department-specific orientation (12 hours).

Additional Notes

• No requests for time off (RTO) will be considered during the first full week of the assignment.
