Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of trauma/ER experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

• 31-bed Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Night shift schedule with varying start times (3p, 5p, 7p), 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required, plus 2 of 3 major holidays during the holiday season
• Uses Cerner EMR
• GE Lifepack telemetry monitors and ventilators including Puritan Bennett 840, Dräger, Vision BiPAP, and V60s
• Charge Nurse and Unit Secretary support on the unit
• Paramedics and CNAs assist with IV starts, discharges, and tech duties
• RT and Pharmacy coverage available 24/7, with a dedicated ER Pharmacist on days 5 days/week
• Floating required between two ER locations approximately 7 miles apart, possibly during mid-shifts
• 2-3 days of floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or ENPC) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ER/Trauma nursing experience required
• Moderate conscious sedation competency testing required
• Must pass a Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam 24-48 hours prior to position acceptance (maximum 2 attempts)
• Must pass a Pass/Fail Sim Lab on day 1 of orientation
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for a diverse ER patient population including MVAs, GSW, CVA (Stroke Center), MI (Chest Pain Center), high-risk OB, and psychiatric holds
• Facility is a stroke center and chest pain center
• Approximately 11% pediatric population; patients 15 and older are stabilized and transferred as needed
• Handles high-acuity procedures including cardioversions and conscious sedation for closed fractures
• Navy scrub color required
• Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage in house with 2-6 physicians and 2-4 midlevels
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• First-time travelers may be considered
