Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) needed for a 13-week day-shift assignment in New Haven, CT. Join a high-acuity Emergency Department team and provide compassionate care to adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in a collaborative community hospital setting. • Float Expectations: May cross-train and float between campuses within scope of practice

Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience preferred; candidates with 1.5 years of qualifying experience in a similar or high-acuity hospital setting may be considered
• Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Connecticut; pending licensure may be considered, with sufficient time required for issuance
• Current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required; TNS may be accepted in place of TNCC
• Experience caring for patients across adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric age groups
• Strong emergency nursing, patient assessment, prioritization, triage support, and emergency response skills
• Community hospital emergency experience required; Level I or Level II trauma experience preferred
• Ability to work every other weekend and adapt to campus coverage needs
• Current influenza vaccination required
• Travel clinicians must be able to meet assignment and scheduling requirements; local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible

Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate emergency nursing care to approximately 80 patients per day in a busy Emergency Department
• Assess, stabilize, monitor, and reassess patients with medical, surgical, neurologic, behavioral health, and traumatic conditions
• Care for patients experiencing chest pain, stroke symptoms, respiratory illness, overdose, seizures, dysrhythmias, sepsis, behavioral emergencies, and other urgent conditions
• Administer emergency medications, blood products, IV therapies, sedation, and vasopressors according to orders and policy
• Perform and support emergency procedures, including IV initiation, phlebotomy, EKG acquisition, airway support, central line management, chest tube care, and splint application
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly to the emergency care team
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other interdisciplinary partners
• Float between assigned campuses as needed while practicing within scope and maintaining high standards of patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
