Travel Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in New Haven, Connecticut

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN / Emergency Room RN)

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
• Start Date: October 23, 2026
• Contract End Date: January 22, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
• Patient Population: Infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience preferred
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Assignment Flexibility: Nurses may float within scope of practice to support operational needs and may rotate between area campuses

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department or Emergency Room nursing experience preferred; candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with experience in a comparable or high-acuity hospital setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut or proof that the Connecticut license application has been initiated before submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications; TNS may be accepted in place of TNCC
• Community hospital nursing experience required
• Trauma nursing experience preferred, including Level I or Level II trauma exposure
• Experience caring for patients with medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, neurologic, cardiac, respiratory, and traumatic conditions
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and crisis-management skills
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and float within the nurse's scope of practice
• Influenza vaccination required

Emergency Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan
• Perform focused patient assessments, support triage, complete ongoing reassessments, and promptly escalate changes in patient condition
• Care for patients experiencing acute medical, cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, psychiatric, infectious, and traumatic conditions
• Administer medications, blood products, IV therapies, emergency interventions, procedural sedation, and other treatments according to orders and department standards
• Monitor and care for patients requiring ventilatory support, BiPAP/CPAP, vasopressors, central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, or continuous sedation
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias, stroke symptoms, STEMI presentations, seizures, overdose, sepsis, behavioral emergencies, and other time-sensitive conditions
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, IV teams, transportation, and other healthcare support departments
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively during handoffs and transitions of care
• Support staffing needs by floating between assigned campuses when appropriate and within scope of practice
