This is a smaller unit, leading to strong relationships between staff members and a supportive environment for staff. While it operates with the urgency and responsiveness of an acute care setting, it is distinct from both traditional outpatient clinics and the Emergency Department. Patients are typically more stable than those seen in the ED but still require timely evaluation and treatment. Special Procedures/Unit Details : ICC sets appointments for patients based off calls they receive from the patient s primary team or oncologist. These patients may be coming from another area of the hospital, such as radiation or infusion, or may be coming directly from home. Staffing: The unit is staffed 24/7 by a team of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Nurses. The Emergency Department physicians are the supervising and attending physicians for the ICC APPs and their patients.
