Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I trauma experience and a minimum of 2 years of ER experience.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center with Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department designations
• General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30)
• Currently experiencing high patient ratios of 1:5-6, potentially up to 1:8 depending on volume and holidays
• Required to work 3 weekends (Fri-Sun) per 4-week schedule, potentially 1-3 days per weekend
• Floating required, including possible float to Pediatrics
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted)
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• ENPC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration preferred
• Triage experience preferred
• Proof of high school level education required
• Certifications may not be pending beyond contract start date

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a broad range of trauma, cardiac, stroke, and pediatric emergency cases
• Skills utilized may include arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and IV therapy
• Experience with ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP management, and ABG interpretation is valuable
• Exposure to neuro-trauma cases including CVA, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Exposure to shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Pediatric cases may include head injury and near drowning
• Isolation precautions/PPE knowledge and orthopedic trauma experience are relevant to this role
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates
• Returning core staff must wait 12 months before reapplying, subject to HR verification
• RTO must be submitted at time of application with a 5-day maximum per assignment, and no RTO will be approved for 10/31 or 12/18-12/28
• EPIC training is completed during orientation
