Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a high-volume, non-trauma emergency department requiring 2+ years of ED experience and an active MD or Compact RN license.

Details

  • High-volume, fast-paced, non-trauma Emergency Department treating patients from neonates to geriatrics
  • 66-bed unit with an average census of approximately 200 patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity
  • Includes a 10-bed ED hold/Obs unit staffed by the ER team with a 1:5 ratio, up to 1:6 with lower acuity
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (20:00-08:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage required as scheduled
  • Floating required within specialty, including the ED hold/Obs unit
  • No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active MD or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Experience with 1:4-5 patient ratios preferred
  • Skilled in pediatric, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric emergency care
  • Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring/EKG interpretation
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction preferred

Additional Information

  • Deliver emergency care across a broad range of diagnoses, including trauma-adjacent, pediatric, psychiatric, and cardiac cases
  • Perform triage, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols as needed
  • Provide care within a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Travelers will be expected to float within scope with no restrictions
  • First-time travelers accepted if candidate has strong ED experience
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Returning travelers must have a break of at least 6 months since their last assignment with the system
  • Former staff must wait 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum RTO request is 7 days; requests exceeding 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the contract
