Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2 years of ER experience and ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.

Details

  • Work in a 15-bed emergency department at a critical access hospital
  • General ED setting treating combined adult and pediatric patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (18:00-06:30)
  • Block scheduling is not available for this unit
  • 100% floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Requirements

  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ER experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Experience with IV therapy including central line care, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
  • Experience administering continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
  • Experience with CVA and neurological/psychiatric patient care
  • Proficient in isolation precautions/PPE and triage
  • Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population
  • Manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to emergency situations
  • Perform triage and maintain isolation precautions/PPE protocols
  • Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility (90 days for out-of-state residents, 180 days for in-state residents)
