Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week assignment requiring OR RN licensure and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • . Emergency Department at a short-term acute care, teaching hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Variable evening (3x12, 1400-0230) and night (3x12, 1900-0730) shift schedule
  • Every other weekend required, with occasional stretches of two weekends in a row
  • No unit floating required, though floating to nearby affiliate hospitals may be expected
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • 48-hour work weeks not approved

Requirements

  • Active RN license, OR license required (may submit with license pending unless otherwise specified)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required; PALS also required; NRP preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Central line care/management and blood product administration experience preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and triage
  • Experience administering IV vasopressors preferred
  • Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
  • Must have reliable personal vehicle for this assignment

Additional Information

  • Provide direct emergency department nursing care including triage, cardiac monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
  • Facility is a teaching hospital with 59 total staff beds
  • Scrubs are provided for ED staff; any color accepted
  • No parking fees at this facility
  • Travelers may be required to float to nearby sister facilities as needed; refusal to float may impact assignment status
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests should be submitted upfront; up to 6 days or 3 consecutive days can be auto-approved, with additional time subject to client approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Local candidates are accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to specific eligibility rules
