Description

American Traveler is hiring an ER RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring TNCC, ACLS, and BLS certifications with a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital
• General ED serving combined adult/pediatric population
• Average patient ratio of 1:5-6 for both day and night shifts
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to other campuses within the health system to meet facility needs
• Assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses
• Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Epic EMR used, experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, pending license accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC required; CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, and PALS preferred
• 2 years of ED experience required, will consider 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or similar large hospital
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with pediatric and adult emergency patient populations including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and psychiatric cases
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration preferred
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a wide range of patient acuities including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and behavioral health cases
• Participate in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction
• May assist with splinting and orthopedic trauma care
• Facility is a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Flu vaccination required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccination and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
• Local candidates not accepted within 75 miles of the facility
• Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require manager approval
