Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a CT or compact RN license and prior trauma/community hospital experience.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Level I Trauma Center setting
• Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Requires working every other weekend
• Cross training and floating between hospital campuses within scope required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Epic charting system used, experience preferred
• Travelers are assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units are excluded from this assignment

Requirements

• Active or pending CT RN license (compact accepted)
• BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
• ENPC, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, will consider 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or academic hospital
• Community hospital experience required
• Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with a wide range of ED presentations including trauma, cardiac, neuro, respiratory, psychiatric, and pediatric cases
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of emergency medications
• 1 professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a broad range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric emergencies
• Perform skills such as EKG interpretation, splinting, IV starts, and isolation precautions
• Participate in cross-training and floating between campuses based on facility needs
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• Flu vaccine is required with no declinations accepted
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required except for approved religious or medical exemptions
• Facility is a large academic Level I Trauma Center
