Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for an Emergency Department Observation Unit, requiring CT/compact RN license and Level I trauma experience.

Details

• 16-bed ED Observation Unit, separate from Main ED, providing non-admitted observation level of care
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• 2 years of ED experience preferred; will accept 1.5 years from a similar large or trauma hospital
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC
• Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skills in psychiatric crisis management, IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, and dysrhythmia management
• Experience managing trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Skill in splinting and orthopedic trauma care
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care in an observation-level unit separate from the main ED
• Care for patients presenting with psychiatric crises, trauma, cardiac emergencies, and neurological conditions
• Candidates not meeting requirements for the main campus ED will be scheduled at the Observation Unit, with potential to move to other campus EDs after a successful contract
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require facility approval
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious or medical exemptions
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• Former staff must have separated from permanent employment for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers accepted only if they have Epic charting experience
• Pending license accepted at time of submission
