Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring TNCC, ACLS, and BLS certifications with every-other-weekend commitment.
Details
- Work in a General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric populations
- Level I Trauma Center with STEMI and Stroke Certified designation
- Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Cross-training and floating between campuses required, within scope
- Epic charting system used
- No guaranteed block scheduling
Requirements
- Active RN license (CT or Compact) required
- Certifications required: TNCC, ACLS, BLS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, PALS
- 2 years of ED experience preferred, will consider 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or comparable hospital
- Community hospital experience required
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Experience with emergency department skills including cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, IV therapy, and respiratory management
- Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients preferred
- Pediatric emergency care experience preferred
- One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric presentations
- Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Assigned to one primary campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Pending license candidates accepted
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
- Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
- Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
