Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Peoria, Illinois

Join a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center as a Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse in Peoria, Illinois. This 13-week travel nursing job offers the opportunity to care for adult and pediatric patients experiencing medical emergencies, cardiac events, strokes, and stabilized trauma.

In this fast-paced Emergency Department, you will work alongside experienced emergency physicians, residents, charge nurses, emergency department technicians, and support staff in a Level I trauma and acute care setting.

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 11, 2027
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
• Schedule: Evening/night shift, approximately 1:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m.; schedules are assigned by the scheduling team
• Unit: Emergency Department serving adult and pediatric patient populations
• Trauma Designation: Level I Trauma Center
• Charting System: Epic
• Patient Volume: Approximately 233 emergency patients per day, including adults and children

Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; 2 years of Emergency Department or emergency nursing experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred; Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) may be considered
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred
• Strong emergency nursing assessment, prioritization, triage, and critical-thinking skills
• Experience caring for patients with cardiac emergencies, stroke symptoms, trauma, respiratory distress, and other high-acuity conditions
• Proficiency with vasoactive, cardiac, antihypertensive, and other titratable intravenous medications
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to life-threatening dysrhythmias

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and pediatric emergency patients with a wide range of conditions and acuity levels
• Rapidly assess, triage, prioritize, and reassess patients throughout the emergency care process
• Care for critically ill patients, cardiac arrest patients, stroke patients, heart attack patients, and stabilized trauma patients
• Administer medications and titrate vasoactive, cardiac, antihypertensive, and other critical-care infusions according to clinical protocols
• Recognize and respond to significant changes in cardiac rhythms and patient condition
• Perform or assist with procedures including electrocardiograms, blood draws, arterial blood gases, breathing treatments, and emergency interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, charge nurses, emergency department technicians, respiratory therapy, radiology, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, reassessments, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered environment in a fast-paced Emergency Department
