Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring a Michigan license in hand and combined adult/pediatric ED experience.

Details

• 27-bed Emergency Department in a rural hospital setting with an average daily census of 76
• Serves all patient age groups from neonates through geriatrics presenting with any chief complaint
• Common presentations include chest pain, respiratory distress, mental health emergencies, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, trauma, and cardiac arrest
• Staffing ratio of 1:4-5 on all shifts
• Unit features include Primary Stroke Center designation, SANE dedicated room with forensic nurse on call, 2 resuscitation rooms, and 4 mental health preferred rooms
• 24/7 board certified ED providers, charge nurses, triage nurse, and house supervisor coverage
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 18:30-7:00
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication system
• Floating within service line/scope of practice required

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required in hand
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ED experience required
• Combined adult/pediatric ED experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Required skills include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, procedural sedation administration, CVA and neuro-trauma care, traumatic brain injury care, CPAP/BiPAP management, ABG interpretation, ventilated patient care, gunshot wound care, isolation precautions, and triage
• Epic charting experience required
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 24 months required
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required

Additional Information

• Care for a diverse ED patient population including trauma, cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, and pediatric emergencies
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Requested time off of 7+ days requires manager approval, and time off is not permitted around holidays (eves, days, and days after)
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
