Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a busy Emergency Department requiring 2+ years of ER experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Acute care Emergency Department with 14 treatment areas and plans to expand
• Average of 75 patients per day, with volumes reaching up to 140
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 to 4
• No charge nurse on unit; ER techs (EMTs) support patient care
• No designated monitor tech; nurses read and interpret telemetry strips themselves
• RNs do not perform lab draws; no IV team available
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7; pharmacy available on-call after hours
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend required
• Rotating holiday coverage in line with core staff schedule
• Floating required, including to Marian ER
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Treats a wide range of cases including 15% pediatric, stroke, orthopedic, and abdominal pain patients; trauma patients are stabilized and transferred
• Facility does not have L&D, peds, or NICU units

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• NRP and TNCC certifications preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct emergency nursing care across a wide variety of patient presentations
• Work alongside ER techs, EMTs, MDs, and mid-level providers
• Complete a 15-minute proctored EKG competency exam during hospital orientation
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Navy scrub color required
• Security personnel available nearby in the lobby as needed
