Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a CA RN license and Trauma Level II experience.

Details

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30, every other weekend
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility
• Handles shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Provides cardiac monitoring and emergency response including 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• No travel experience required, evaluated on a case-by-case basis

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Community Hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patients, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
• Skilled in managing neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and managing violent behavior
• Skilled in orthopedic care including splint application and ortho trauma management
• Proficient in triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including pediatrics, respiratory infections, seizures, sepsis, and abuse/neglect identification
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience with ICP monitoring and neuro-trauma care preferred
• Experience in STEMI and Stroke Certified facility settings preferred
• Max RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, beginning 7:00 PM the night before through 7:00 AM the day after
• Local candidates accepted at local rate
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate eligibility
• First-time travelers considered on a case-by-case basis
