Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and trauma facility background including pediatric experience.

Details

  • 13-week contract in a hospital Emergency Department setting
  • Level I and Level II Trauma Center environment
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week depending on staffing needs
  • Weekends required; scheduled days will vary based on staffing needs
  • Block scheduling is not available for this position
  • Every other holiday required
  • Time off cannot be approved around Labor Day
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Floating within scope of practice required as needed
  • Triage experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC required; pending TNCC accepted at consideration but must be obtained before start date
  • Minimum 2 years of total ER experience required
  • At least 1 year of Level I trauma facility experience, or at least 2 years of Level II trauma facility experience required
  • Some pediatric ER experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Driver's license and Social Security card copies required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates who have previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation period plus leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers who have reached 365 total assignment days at this facility are not eligible to return
  • Up to 40 hours of RTO available per 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed upfront, as no additional RTO will be approved after offer acceptance
  • Any pre-start vacation plans between the sign date and start date should be disclosed in advance
  • Orientation includes specialty-specific modules of up to 16 non-billable hours
  • No radius rule; local candidates are accepted for this unit
