Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, requiring prior Level I Trauma experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

  • 13-week assignment with possibility of extending to 26 weeks
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
  • Emergency Department caring for combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Will crosstrain and float to other campuses and ED observation units within scope
  • Open to accommodating a block schedule
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certifications required
  • NIHSS, PALS certifications required
  • CPI and ENPC certifications preferred
  • 2 years of ED experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in psychiatric care, IV therapy, respiratory management, neurological trauma, and cardiac monitoring preferred
  • 1 professional reference required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required except for religious/medical exemptions

Additional Information

  • Assigned to one primary campus with possible rotation to other campuses and ED observation units
  • Provide emergency care for a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac events, stroke, psychiatric emergencies, and multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center setting with over 1,000 beds
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
  • Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
