Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma experience and a CT/compact license.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center, Short Term Acute Care hospital
  • General ED serving combined adult/pediatric population
  • Average patient ratios of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Assigned to one campus with possibility of crosstraining and floating to other campuses and ED observation units
  • Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • 2 years of ED experience required, though 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or similar hospital may be considered
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required, Level II Trauma experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
  • Experience managing psychiatric patients, including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
  • Experience with shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Experience with neurological emergencies including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
  • 1 professional reference required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with medical or religious exemptions only

Additional Information

  • Deliver emergency nursing care in a Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center setting
  • Open to accommodating block scheduling
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require facility approval
  • Candidates with vacation plans between sign date and start date should communicate this early to ensure a realistic start date
  • Local candidates are not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local
  • Previous perm staff must have been gone at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
  • Parking costs approximately $125 per month
