Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring CT/compact RN license and Level I trauma experience.

Details

  • Work in a General Emergency Department serving combined adult/pediatric patients
  • Level I Trauma Center setting with shock/trauma, gunshot wound, and traumatic amputation experience utilized
  • Average patient ratios of 1:6 on both day and night shifts
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Charting completed in Epic
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs required, including cross-training and floating between campuses
  • No on-call requirements
  • Travelers are assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to others, and do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
  • Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, PALS
  • 2 years of ED experience required, though 1.5 years from a Level I trauma or community hospital may be considered
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Level I and Level II trauma center experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of emergency medications
  • Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health patients, including acute psychosis and suicidal patients
  • 1 professional reference required
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including pediatrics, trauma, cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and psychiatric cases
  • Perform procedures such as central line care, arterial line management, chest tube management, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Support stroke and STEMI certified protocols within a Level I Trauma Center environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Pending license candidates accepted, though license issuance may take 15-21 business days
  • Previous staff must be separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require manager approval
  • Local candidates are not accepted unless residing more than 75 miles from the facility
  • Weekend call-out policy requires makeup shifts to be scheduled within the following 6-week period
