Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a 12-week night shift assignment in a fast-paced trauma emergency department requiring ACLS and PALS certification.

Details

  • Work in a hospital Emergency Department-Trauma unit
  • Night shift schedule from 19:00-07:30
  • 12-week assignment length
  • Care for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies
  • Perform triage, rapid assessment, and ongoing evaluation of acute and emergent patients
  • Operate emergency equipment including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators
  • Assist with emergency procedures including CPR, trauma resuscitation, intubation, and wound care

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TN or compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA required)
  • TNCC certification may be preferred or required
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification may be required
  • Ascension MOAB certification may be required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Prior emergency department, critical care, or acute-care nursing experience preferred
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Must provide full SS# and DOB, copy of driver's license, 2 separate references, skills checklist, and copies of certifications for consideration

Additional Information

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other treatments as ordered
  • Initiate and maintain IV access and obtain blood specimens for lab testing
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, and lab staff
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
  • Follow infection-control procedures, medication-safety practices, and hospital policies
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and quality-improvement initiatives
  • Must possess a US Social Security Number and provide a US home address
  • Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates consideration at a reduced rate depending on location
  • First-time travelers may be considered
