Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position in a high acuity critical care unit requiring vasoactive drip titration and ventilator management skills.

Details

• Work in the DMCC High Acuity Unit, an 8-bed ICU in an acute care setting
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac patients
• Care for sedated, ventilated, and tracheostomy patients, including titration of vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips
• Common titratable drips include Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem
• RNs manage RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices
• Telemetry monitoring provided via hardwired Phillips monitors with centralized ICU telemetry tech
• EPIC EMR used
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am
• Every other weekend required, plus additional shifts to fill scheduling gaps
• Holiday rotation required, plus additional shifts to fill scheduling gaps
• Floating to Med-Surg unit may be required
• No current call or standby requirement, though subject to change

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and tracheostomy patient care required
• Experience titrating vasoactive and sedation drips required
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels

• Nurses provide primary patient care in the ICU as there are no aides or patient care techs on the unit
• House Supervisor available 24/7 for support
• Hospitalist/Intensivist in house on dayshift only, with tele-health MD available after hours
• Respiratory Therapy available in house 24/7
• Unit orientation includes classroom training per facility policy plus 2 shifts with a preceptor
• Scrubs required in any color, with only facility-approved t-shirts permitted
• Local rates available for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility, though no radius rule applies to eligibility
