Responsibilities
  • Receive, accession, and prepare tissue specimens for histological examination
  • Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and slide preparation
  • Prepare and stain tissue sections using routine H&E and special staining techniques
  • Ensure high-quality slide preparation for pathologist review
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment
  • Perform quality control procedures and maintain laboratory documentation
  • Label, organize, and store specimens according to laboratory protocols
  • Follow infection prevention, laboratory safety, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Maintain inventory of histology supplies and notify leadership of replenishment needs
  • Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory scientists, and healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic results
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Histology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related laboratory science field preferred
  • HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Histology Technician experience
  • Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and laboratory quality control
  • Experience operating histology laboratory equipment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
  • Commitment to laboratory quality standards and patient safety
