Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring SANE certification and floating to Med-Surg and Center of Hope.

Details

• ICU/CCU unit within a hospital setting
• Care for critically ill patients requiring pressors, sedation, thrombolytic therapy, electrolyte replacement, cardiac monitoring, cardiac drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator/BiPAP support
• Perform bedside procedures including chest tube placement, intubation, line placement, cardioversions, lumbar punctures, and thoracentesis, which may require conscious sedation
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every 3rd weekend required, potentially up to every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required, generally 3 of 6 major holidays
• Float to Med-Surg as needed and to Center of Hope (20 minutes from main ER) for call coverage
• No additional on-call requirements beyond Center of Hope coverage
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (preferred), and SANE certification required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU experience required
• Skills required in respiratory/thoracic care, chest tube assist, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, high flow nasal cannula, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, renal failure care, CVA/stroke management, GI surgery care, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization or intervention required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU/CCU patients including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
• Any color scrubs accepted as long as professional appearance is maintained
• No parking costs at this facility
• Travelers considered local if residing within 50 miles of the hospital, with local candidates eligible for a rate differential
• Former employees must be separated from the facility for three years before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Maximum of 5 days RTO permitted, and candidates requesting holiday RTO must be willing to work one of the three major holidays
